How to Sell an Unused Gift Card in Ghana: A Seller’s Checklist
Have a gift card you own but do not plan to use? If it is unused and still valid, you may be able to request a resale quote. This guide is for people who already have a card and want to sell it for Ghana cedis. It is not a guide to buying gift cards, getting a free card, or applying for a cash loan.
1. Check the card details first
Before contacting an exchange service, note the brand, issuing country or region, currency, face value, and whether the card is physical or digital. Gift cards with the same brand name can have different terms depending on where they were issued. Acceptance can also change, so ask whether your exact card is currently eligible.
2. Keep the code and PIN private
For an initial eligibility question, share non-sensitive details only. Do not post a card number, redemption code, PIN, QR code, or an image that reveals them in a public comment or social media group. If you need to check the balance, use the issuer’s official channel privately and keep the code covered in any screenshot.
3. Ask for the full quote before transferring the card
The face value is not necessarily the amount you will receive. Ask for the proposed payout in GHS, any applicable fees, the payment method, and the expected processing steps. Confirm those details in writing before following instructions to submit or transfer the card. A quote is not final until the service confirms the card’s eligibility and verifies it through its stated process.
4. Confirm how payment will be made
Ask which payout methods are currently supported, such as a particular Mobile Money service or bank transfer, and how long the process normally takes. Do not assume every provider supports every network. Check the recipient details carefully and never share your Mobile Money PIN, bank password, or one-time password with anyone.
5. Keep a record
Save the agreed quote, instructions, and transaction messages until the payout is complete. If something changes, pause and confirm through the service’s official contact route rather than a new number sent by an unknown person.
Seller-only service: GiftCedi is intended for people asking about cards they already own. It does not sell gift cards, distribute free card codes, or provide loans.
